One Day in Summer

Welcoming entrance.

Formal color

Informal color
Formal and informal garden design emphasizing color at one large property on Cape Cod, on one day in August. There are annuals, and perennials which flower in sequence over the summer. The informal garden, designed to look like a bed of wildflowers, overlooks the water. I also designed the entrance gates. jc

August 1

Finally the flowers have appeared. The oriental lilies are not out yet, so I will just have to put them into separate posts. The petunias in the front gardens are climbing right through the roses. The hydrangeas did not flower this year. I cut them back too far I guess. I may put in a shorter variety. jc

Irises

Another beautiful day in my neighborhood. Actually it was a cool, gray day, but these gardens looked lovely. The stream and pool are practically naturalized. The lilies and variegated irises live in the muddy bottom of both pools and act as natural filters. Other plants are growing in the stream, which is lined the entire length with rubber.
The Siberian irises need to be divided this year. Pretty spectacular now though. Behind them are double knockout roses with pink Bonica in the middle. New plants in a new raised bed which should get nice and full. jc
